It was a classic sunny afternoon at the poolside.
Guests lounged in deck chairs, soaking up the sun, kids tossed beach balls, and the scent of sunscreen lingered in the air. Women sipped colorful drinks beneath wide umbrellas, children giggled in the shallow end, and men scrolled on their phones beneath canopies. Everything felt calm and picture-perfect, like something out of a vacation brochure.
Then, all at once, people began noticing a dog lingering at the pool’s edge. It was a big dog with a pale coat, dripping wet and clearly distressed. It barked sharply, darting back and forth along the water, glancing anxiously into the pool like it was urging someone to look.
“What a nuisance!” a woman huffed as she stood up, brushing off her towel. “Who allowed that filthy dog near the water? That’s it—I’m not swimming now.
Gross!”
“Oh come on, he’s probably just overheated,” another man nearby responded calmly. “He’s got feelings too.”
But before the conversation could continue, the dog suddenly dove into the pool with a loud splash. Some guests gasped, others chuckled, assuming the dog was merely cooling off.
