Without knowing the whole story, Amanda and the other women in her book club quickly judged a pregnant 50-year-old woman. They didn’t realize they were wrong until they found out the truth about her pregnancy.
In her 60s, Amanda was happily single. She never got married and never had children.
She runs the weekly neighborhood book club at her house, where women who lived in the area would meet every Saturday, to keep herself busy.
Through the years, Amanda only ever got along with the people in her book club.
Because she cherished order, she would become enraged whenever a neighbor’s child would damage a flower pot or contaminate her side of the street. The children were afraid of Amanda as a result.
They avoided her front yard and never gave her any of the juices and baked goods they sold every summer, which were well-liked by other neighbors. Amanda went to the grocery store one day.
