ur money better, maybe you wouldn’t be in this situation now.

Emily, be honest.

This feels very awkward.

I cannot serve this to my guests.

I think going is better, in my opinion. It was hurtful what my sister-in-law said.

I had never been so self-conscious. Without speaking, I took my dish and left the kitchen.

“Em, where are you going?

” As I was about to go out the front door, I asked my mother-in-law some questions.

I said in response, “Home.

” It’s unfair that I get to be here without Mark because I’m sick.

Her eyes became softer and she gave me a cursory glance. She inquired, “Are you certain?

” I knew she wouldn’t ask any more questions.

Certainly not in this particular setting.

In addition, all I desired was for her to simply walk away. Because I was about to cry, I was aware that if she said anything more, I would immediately break down in tears.

She responded, “All right.

” I’ll call later to check on you.

As I made my way to my car, I felt the weight of the previous year pressing down on me.

the restless nights, the persistent worry, and the feeling that you will never be good enough for the family.

My heart was heavy with disappointment as I drove home. As I entered the shower, I mumbled to myself, “Come on, Emily.

” I was going to get rid of the day and all my emotions before Mark got home. My husband asked, “Are you home?

” as he entered our bedroom.

You weren’t expected to join.

As I sat up to tell him everything, I watched as his expression changed as he felt each emotion.

He stated, “I’ll call her in the morning.

” She will never speak to you again in this manner. Karma, on the other hand, outran her opponent.

The next morning, as I was making pancakes for Mark and myself, my phone buzzed.

When I responded, she exclaimed, “Em,” and I laughed hard.

What transpired last night will blow your mind! ” What is that?

My interest grew, so I asked.

Jessica’s potluck was a complete failure.

Her assistant appears to have forgotten to plug in the refrigerator after cleaning it, resulting in the loss of all the food she had prepared.

A distinct aroma was present.

I yelled, “Oh my god,” and broke down. Everyone complained that it was the worst meal they had ever had, so they left early.

It’s right for her. However, her father was extremely enraged.

“Something you made is the only thing that could have saved the evening,” her mother said.

I was unable to oppose laughing at Sarah.

Simply put, this was karma.

Jessica’s insistence on perfection and refusal to eat my meal had horribly backfired.

What would you have done in that circumstance?
