Tom, Layla’s husband, has a family vacation tradition each year to which she is not invited. Layla finally asks why she can’t join after years of being excluded, but Tom lies and blames his mother. However, when Layla investigates on her own, she and her mother-in-law uncover a family secret that causes the family to split apart.
Since we got married, Tom, my husband, has been taking his family on annual vacations to islands. That is twelve years of vacations without me. He would leave our two children and me behind each year when he packed his bags.
He stated, “Layla, my mom doesn’t want in-laws on the trip. ” You know this. Every year, it’s the same story.
However, you continue to inquire about it. ” My husband grinned and sat on the couch with his hands tightly encircling his phone. “Why don’t you just cancel this one so we can go on vacation with the kids?

The children are excessively youthful and it will be turbulent. We can start talking about holidays with them when they are older. “And me?
” I inquired. Are you positive that your mother will care? Tom said, “She doesn’t want you there, Layla.
” And if you go along, you’ll just be embarrassed. ”
I tried not to let that excuse get to me for twelve long years by swallowing it. I only wanted to fight so many battles, and this was not one of them.
But then, I was on the couch scrolling through social media a few days before Tom was supposed to leave for his trip. At that point, something in me snapped. A carousel of vacation snaps from last year could be seen by all right there on social media.
Tom was standing next to his brother and sister-in-law, beaming broadly. Additionally, there were photographs of their sister and her husband. However, I was informed that Tom’s mother did not want any in-laws traveling with her?
I thought to myself, “It’s clear that she just didn’t want you there. ”
Before I exploded at my mother-in-law, I needed more information. Even though Denise appeared to have a problem with me, I was aware that if I asked her directly, she would respond.
