My world came crashing down in an airport terminal when I saw my husband with another woman. But fate introduced me to a charismatic pilot who led me into an unexpected romance in Paris. Yet, doubt lingered in my heart about its future.
Brian and I were at a breaking point in our marriage, though I hadn’t fully grasped it.
Clutching my ticket to Paris, I navigated the crowded terminal, nerves twisting inside me. I wanted to surprise Brian during his business trip, hoping we could rekindle our love in the romantic city. But then I spotted him, arm-in-arm with a young woman, their closeness undeniable.
Heart sinking, I called out, “Brian!” He turned, surprise flitting across his face before hardening into detachment.
Approaching me, he frowned, “Ava, why are you here?”
“I wanted to surprise you, spend time in Paris together,” I said, my voice quaking as my plans crumbled.
Brian dragged me aside, irritation evident. “This isn’t a good time, Ava. It’s work,” he snapped, tearing up my ticket.
“And she’s just a colleague. Go home.”
Tears welled up. “I thought we were trying to fix this,” I whispered.
His gaze turned cold.
“This was a mistake. Leave,” he said, striding back to the woman and leaving me shattered. Collapsing on my suitcase, I sobbed until a warm voice interrupted.
“Are you alright?” I looked up into the kind, concerned eyes of a pilot.
After hearing my story, Jack offered me a first-class ticket to Paris, no strings attached.
“Why would you do that?” I asked, astonished.
“Everyone deserves a fresh start,” he replied with a gentle smile.
I accepted, hoping Paris would help heal my broken heart.

Seated in first class, comfort enveloped me, distancing me from my recent pain. But my reprieve was short-lived as Brian appeared, angry and accusatory.
“What are you doing here?” he demanded.
I explained Jack’s invitation, but Brian’s anger flared until Jack intervened, escorting him back to economy.
“You’re welcome,” Jack said softly. “Remember, you deserve respect.”
Settling in, I felt a rare sense of peace, only for Brian to reappear, reeking of alcohol.
His words stung, “Think you’ve won? Enjoy it now. Once we land, your credit cards are gone.
Let’s see how far you get without a cent.”
Before fear could take hold, a flight attendant intervened, and soon, Jack returned.
