Dive in and rediscover the taste of genuine, homemade comfort.

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 1/4 cups milk
1 egg
3 tablespoons butter, melted (plus extra for the pan)

Instructions:

Sift Together Dry Ingredients:

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Make a well in the center.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, beat together the milk, egg, and melted butter.

Mix Dry and Wet Ingredients: Pour the wet ingredients into the well in the dry ingredients and mix until smooth. Don’t overmix; it’s okay if there are a few lumps.

Preheat a Skillet or Griddle: Place a skillet over medium heat or preheat a griddle. Add a small amount of butter and let it melt, coating the surface.

Pour the Batter: For each pancake, pour 1/4 cup of batter onto the skillet or griddle. Depending on the size of your cooking surface, you might be able to cook multiple pancakes at once.

Cook Until Bubbly: Cook until bubbles appear on the surface of the pancake. Then, flip it over and cook until the other side is golden brown.

Serve: Serve warm, with butter, maple syrup, fruit, or any other toppings of your choice.

Tips:

  • For fluffier pancakes, make sure not to overmix the batter. The more you mix, the tougher the pancakes can become.
  • The batter’s consistency can vary. If it’s too thick, add a bit more milk. If it’s too thin, add a bit more flour.
  • You can add extras like blueberries, chocolate chips, or sliced bananas directly to the batter if desired.

Enjoy your old-fashioned pancakes!
